PLACER SPCA
A New Community & Companion Animal Care Center Placer SPCA is the largest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in Placer County. In operation for 40 years, it shelters up to 4,000 animals annually and provides adoption counseling, spay and neuter assistance, pet lost and found, an array of classes and workshops, collaborative rescue efforts, pet behavioral training, and volunteer opportunities including a thrift store. Yet Placer SPCA is at a critical juncture. Our ability to serve a growing community is challenged by a facility that has outlived its useful lifespan and is becoming ever more expensive to maintain. To address the challenges of its existing site, as well as future program and animal capacity requirements, the Placer SPCA Board of Directors has embarked on plans for a new Animal Care and Adoption Center. Intended as both a community space and animal welfare center, this new facility has been designed as a gathering place where people and animals can unite in a calm, stress-free environment. Buy a BrickThe Placer SPCA was founded by the community for the community to enhance the lives of companion animals and support the human-animal bond. For 40 years, its mission has been sustained almost entirely by generous local support. Expanded community partnerships enabled the Placer SPCA to achieve notable recognition for excellence in all of its programs. Therefore, it will come as no surprise that the Placer SPCA is seeking to partner with the community to make this vision a reality. We are in the homestretch of an ambitious campaign to raise funds for a much-needed new and larger animal care and adoption facility. Your gift to the Homestretch Campaign can make all the difference in giving the Placer SPCA the ability to start construction on this new animal care center. By contributing to the campaign, you will help save the lives of animals by supporting high-quality medical care, safe habitats and calming environments, and welcoming education and adoption areas that will be a part of the Center. Create a Brick for You or a Loved OneThe front entrance to the Adoption & Education Center will feature a brick-lined walkway where donors may contribute a brick to honor their self, a pet, family member or other loved one, or simply celebrate any occasion! With that growth comes a greater need to support and protect one of our most vulnerable populations: our companion pets.Whether you’re a dog or cat lover – or prefer “critters” like mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, or rabbits – you will find that the Placer SPCA cares for all of these animals, serving more than 4,000 homeless animals each year. They do so with compassion, business-savvy, and excellent programs that strengthen the human-animal bond while providing a core community service for our region. For more than 40 years, the Placer SPCA has reunited lost pets with their owners, enabled struggling families and individuals to keep their pets when times are tough, and matched homeless pets with those searching for a companion. There is truly no other organization in Placer County providing the breadth and depth of animal welfare services as the Placer SPCA. And as a four-star charity for eight straight years, they are ranked among the top charitable organizations in the United States. Yet, they have never had a permanent home of their own…until now. The new Placer SPCA facility will be so much more than an animal shelter. It will be a landmark and a gathering place for the entire community. Through animal adoption and the many programs offered by the Placer SPCA, children will learn the character-building skills of compassion, responsibility and commitment. People from all walks of life will find the companionship, unconditional love and daily laughter that a furry family member can bring. This new state-of-the-art facility will increase critical capacity to take in more stray, abandoned and surrendered animals. And it will help reduce the incidences of homeless animals by offering more low-cost or donor-subsidized spay and neuter services. We have supported many charitable causes throughout our community and the Greater Sacramento region. While they have all been worthwhile organizations, few are as important to us as the Placer SPCA.
